Default hard drive wont let me gamesave?

my hard drive has just stopped working for some reason out of the blue , when i plug it into my computer(i take it of the xbox and use the transfer cable to game save). when i open up xploder360 and go to the hard drive option like always. it takes like 10 seconds before i get an error of the FATX drive wont open.

Ive searched through the forums , and Google but haven't found a solution.

- I'm not Vista so the Admin account is out of the question
- It isn't just Xploder , ive tried Xport 360

Ive also notice this clunking noise when ever i plug it into my computer. but runs fine when ever its on the xbox.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Default no hard drive

first question is, your useing the datel dockin station, did you UPDATE the software?

open up your device manager and see if you windows is even reading the docking station.

it may be a shot in the dark, but plug it up to your pc, and restar you computer. when you get the bios/motherboard start up screen hit [f8] and boot up into safe mode. odds are it will show up, IF the hard drive is good.

I would give you screeny's to help you step by step, but my docking station is back in hawai'i, and im stuck in iraq right now

Xploder only works with memory units.
This is why you are getting the FATX error m8!

Is it clicking repeatedly? Like every second or every other second? Does it have a power adapter on the transfer cable you are using?

Sounds like it's not getting enough power to it. Why it wouldn't now when it wasn't before is beyond me, but try using a powered USB Hub and see if it continues to click. The fact it is working in your 360, but not in your PC leads me to believe it's a power issue.

And to Bullet, of course Xplorer works with hard drives! That's the main app I use for hard drive transfers. Try using Xplorer360_extreme2, that seems to work better than the original.

Sorry, I thought we were all talking about Xplorer (as in Xplorer 360). I put down Xplorer in my post, so yes, Xplorer 360 works with HDD. Xploder does not, sorry for the confusion!
