It is a good day for fans of giant robots. Piranha Games has officially confirmed that a new MechWarrior title is in development (via IGN), and that it will be a complete reboot of the classic series.
The new title will be set on the planet Deshler circa 3015, with the players taking on the role of "wayward nobleman" Adrian Khol. The production budget is still being set, but a full single-player campaign, four-player co-op play and a full range of multiplayer options are being planned.
Particular emphasis will be put on "information warfare," with unmanned drones being used to relay information about the battlefield back to players. There will also be different classes of mechs, with pilots gaining experience and becoming better the more they use a particular machine.
