Thumbs up Mass Effect 2 Hexing

In case anyone is trying to find a way to hex this game, here's what I found on another site. I take no credit for the program used and the method found. I am simply sharing with you what I found on another forum.

1.) Open and Extract your ME2 save (I did this with Le Fluffie)
Link: Le Fluffie SEX.0 and X360.11 « Skunkie Butt's Blog

2.) Open .xbsav file in a hex editor and change what you want to change
3.) Save the modified file
4.) Open checksum program (File attached) and click find checksum
5.) Re-open modifed file with hex editor
6.) Change last 8 digits to the output of the ME2 Checksum program
7.) Save the file
8.) Re-inject modified .xbsav back in with Le Fluffie
10.) Re-hash, re-sign, and place back on hard drive

Hope this helped.

Pretty good directions, except you should change the order of 4, and 5. You only change the checksum of the last 4 bytes after hexing the .xbsav file. And, for anyone doing this it should be done after you meet the elusive man and get on the Normandy. Or, any time after.

Some of the things I found so far are:

Levels of characters (Primary, and Secondary)
Ammo of weapons, and clip sizes
Paragon points
credits
Eezo
Iridium
Palladium
Platinum
Medigel
Probes
Fuel
Squad points
Talent Points
and some others

IF you are using the tool for the checksum that I think you are then it was Made by Fairchild, and works great. My thanks go out to him.

Sorry to be a complete idiot when it comes to things such as these, but, how do I individually search for things like palladium values and the like so I know which one to edit?

Another question, hopefully this can be answered while I still try to figure this out. (sadly, not making any progress). Is it only le fluffie that can be used? I'm really not understanding this...

You can use any tool that breaks down a con(container) file. I use Le Fluffie or the stfs directory tool. Just find your values in hex and edit the numbers. Don't change them too high or it will reset to 0, or freeze the game. Here's some pictures from another site, originally uploaded by donkEpunch which helped alot. Hopefully they will give you a push in the right direction.

And, before we start getting alot of questions about where the file is or why this doesn't work. It has to be the .xbsave not the con file. And, You have to use the checksum tool. IF you don't do this then the file is corrupt.

Well, I give up. Been trying for hours now through different ways and I just can't get it. Is there anyway you guys would be willing to max out my file for me, or make an editor? I was trying to use hex workshop, but it isn't the easiest tool to use for a noob like me.

Any help would be really appreciated. Maybe a tutorial on it? I'll take anything at this point, I want to play this through several times, and I can't have all this probing going on... (hehe)

The paragon points I only found once and edited them, I can't seem to find them right now. It's possible that they float, or that I'm just searching for the wrong amount. Check out the pictures in my post above. It gives a basic layout for the weapons ammo, and character levels, and talent points.
